MSSC runs Spring, Summer, and Fall leagues each year. We offer co-ed leagues every season and men's league if we are able to get enough fields. The Spring season usually starts in April and runs through mid-July. Summer season usually starts in mid-July and goes through early September. Fall season starts in August. These timeframes are subject to change depending on the weather. You can register a full team or sign up as an Individual and MSSC will place you on a team if we have any looking for additional players. The recommended roster size is 15 players.

Format

  • Teams consist of ten players on the field. In the co-ed league, at least four fielders must be female, and a female must hit at least every third at-bat
  • Team shirts, balls, and umpires are provided by MSSC. Players provide their own bats, gloves, and any protective equipment they wish to wear. No bats on the ASA's banned bat list will be permitted
  • Games are slow pitch and last seven innings or one hour - whichever comes first
  • Please read the rulebooks linked in the grey bar toward the top of the page for full details on formats and rules
  • We made a number of changes to the league rules for 2019 based upon player feedback. Please download the rulebook to review the changes

League Capacity

Weekday leagues typically have a capacity that varies depending on how many fields we are able to get. The Saturday league has no capacity and thus your team could potentially play anytime between 11:00 am and 4:00 pm. If you are considering a weekday league, do not wait until the last minute to register if you want to play.

Divisions: Upper vs. Lower

We are able to segment some leagues into separate divisions if we have multiple fields. Teams self-select their division, subject to MSSC approval. Be honest about your skill level, as teams who are truly Lower division teams do not enjoy getting blown out by teams who lie, and it makes the league look bad for allowing that type of skill disparity to occur. There is nothing wrong with being an Upper division team. No one in this division bites, and there isn't a guy in a mask chasing you around with a chainsaw. If you are at all questioning where your team belongs, please register for Upper. If you played in a prior season and we know you're good enough to play in Upper, we'll move you there if you register for Lower.

Individual registration details: Individuals may sign up and we will place you if we can. No payment is required at sign up. We will contact you if we have a spot for you and place you when payment is received.

  • Men: We typically are not able to place many males who register as Individuals in the co-ed league because most teams are not looking for additional males. Being placed as an Individual in a men's league (when offered) is much easier since we can normally form a "Free Agent" team.
  • Ladies: If you want to be placed on a team, it's best to sign up on your own and NOT request to be placed with a male, as there is a much smaller chance a team will pick you up if you want to play with a guy.

Dates and Location

  • Locations for the Spring season are usually announced some time in late January or early February.

Prizes and Other Benefits

  • Upper division: Champions t-shirts and gift cards
  • Lower division: No prizes of any kind
